A Tale of Two Bedrooms

by Effingham Huffnagle

Not all bedrooms are created equal. Some are larger, and some are smaller. Some face east and some face west. Some have nice blue carpets, and others don't. This is a story about an apartment with two bedrooms which are just not the same. The master bedroom faces east across Central Avenue towards Pine Hill Cemetery. (On balance, it is a quiet neighborhood). It has the blue carpet and a small closet. It feels vastly superior to the other bedroom.
Master Bedroom
The smaller bedroom also has a closet of sorts, and a window facing west. It consoles itself each afternoon when it is sunny with a fine sunset. On rainy days it just pouts. It wants to be big enough for a big bed and furniture, but it really would be best as home office or study nook. A cat would find it a fine place to stretch and sleep. A dog might, but there are NO DOGS ALLOWED in this building.
Second Bedroom/Office

So even though there are 2 bedrooms here, the apartment is best for a single person who wants another room or a couple who are close.

You enter the apartment from the second floor landing. The living room lies east of the bickering bedrooms. It is carpeted and has room for a sofa and a flat screen (Providentially, two large flat walls face each other across this room.) At the other end of the living room is a short hall, which connects the bedrooms a small bathroom which refuses to get involved (It has a tub you know...) and a galley kitchen, which faces north and west.

The Galley kitchen also sympathizes with the smaller bedroom. It is just not big enough for any table, though it does have a 4 burner stove and a refrigerator. (The refrigerator wants me to tell you that it is way bigger than those dorm fridges...) It also has a cunning 50's counter which is real, not retro.

But there is so much more to tell:
The ending to this story has yet to be written. Will the little bedroom get over it's depression? Will the big bedroom learn humility. Will the bathroom ever care? You can find out. Just call Anne @ 603-817-1926.
