A garret is an attic apartment nestled under the eaves of a house. This cozy third-floor walkup apartment is indeed a garret. It is located on the south side of the large pink Victorian at #10 Arch Street. The building was built in the mid 1880's by Issac Abbot, who was the cashier of the Dover National Bank until an unfortunate incident in
1895.

The apartment comes with heat. Hot water is not included, but the
apartment has it's own hot water heater. While you will pay for the hot
water, you will have lots of it. laundry facilities are provided on the
first floor of the building. Parking for up to two vehicles is included in
the price. The apartment is wired for Comcast (or is it Xfinity?) Cable.
Access to this sunny apartment is by stairs from the second floor hallway of the
main foyer. The stairs rise to an interior landing, which can serve as a
reading nook or spot for casual storage. A glassed door allows entry to
the living room.
The living room, as all outer rooms in the apartment, is defined by the slope of
the eaves of the building to the south, where lies the dormered window. On
the interior, north, wall is a walk in closet. The spine of the apartment
runs east and west from the living room along the north wall.
The bedroom is to the east, with it's own walk in closet.

The surprisingly large kitchen is to the west, with many cunning built in
drawers and room for a dinette.

As you can see by the picture below, the kitchen is visible from the bedroom down the long axis of the apartment.

The bathroom lies west of the kitchen, at the other end of the apartment from
the bedroom. It is compact, but does contain a full bath.
This apartment is best suited for a single person, or for a couple who are
close. There is not sufficient space for other arrangements.
As all of our properties, smoking is not permitted here. Dogs are also not
allowed. There are no exceptions. Cats are allowed, with prior arrangement.
